Following almost a year of development with Harris Performance, Harley-Davidson UK and British Superbike Championship (BSB) race series organisers, MSVR, have opened registrations for the 2010 Harley-Davidson XR1200 Trophy one-make championship. Development riders including BSB bad boy Sean Emmett, former GP rider Niall Mackenzie and a host of experienced motorcycle journalists have provided test ride feedback for the process.
Ongoing dealer communication has already resulted in the sale of four race motorcycles for next year’s series and a host of other Harley-Davidson UK dealers have shown serious interest in providing entrants for the XR1200 Trophy championship. Blade Motorsport – representing the Oxford and Cheltenham Harley-Davidson dealerships – took part in parade laps aboard their race bike at Silverstone International Race Circuit on Sunday 27 September as part of the 2009 BSB calendar.
London-based Warr’s Harley-Davidson has also confirmed entry into the series and is in the process of preparing its three race machines. In addition to the 34-strong UK and Ireland dealer network, individual competitors – holding an ACU Clubman licence or above – are entitled to enter.
With a cost of less than £13,000 for entry into the ten-race, eight event series, demand is expected to be high. Entry into the series includes an XR1200™ motorcycle, a full race kit developed by Harris Racing and a season-long tyre deal with Dunlop.
The race calendar for 2010 is yet to be confirmed, but events will be staged at Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Silverstone, Oulton Park, Cadwell Park, Knockhill and Snetterton between April and September and all races will be shown on British Eurosport live or delayed highlights.
Competitors interested in the series should visit a local dealer for further information or email xr1200trophy@rbpinternational.com
